Motorola SLVR L9 review
2008-02-18 20:01:42
This new version of Motorola is a slim, fashion mobile phone that looks like the previous Motorola models. It is a direct successor of the L7 model and they are almost the same.
The front surface is black and it is bordered by chrome, and the back side is made of a soft layer. Almost the whole box is made out of metal. The kyboard is black and easy to use. The SLVR L9 measures 113x49x11.5 mm and it weights 96 grams.
This phone doesn't differ much from its forebear, the L7 model. It is an EDGE phone without the 3G data transfer possibility. The screen is quite good, it has 176x220 pixel resolution, and the phone has 20 MB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot and 2.0 Bluetooth with A2DP profile. The memory can be expanded up to 2GB.
L9 has a camera with 2 megapixel resolution without a flashlight, and a FM radio with RDS support. The radio has poor reception so it would be probably better to use the MP3 player instead.
But on the other hand, the player will be adequate only to those users that aren't too demanding. For example, it doesn't have an equaliser, or song search option.
The phone has all the standard Organiser applications, Games, an e-mail client, and it uses WAP XHTML and GPRS.
The phone has a processor which works on a Triplets platform and it is quite weak which means that the interface response and the menu is slower.
The only good thing that comes from an older platform is that the battery has longer endurance. It has 880 mAh of capacity and it can last for about 6.5 hours of talk time, or 350 hours in standby.
The phone is endurable, has a great design, a radio, MP3 player and it makes a quite good phone for users that aren't too demanding.
ADVANTAGES: design, dimensions, battery SHORTCOMINGS: screen, no 3G
