Nokia N95 review

2008-02-13 13:19:44

A new Nokia mobile phone with double sliding mechanism which takes the capabilities of a mobile phone to a new level. It also gives a lot of promisses, but doesn't fulfil them.

      Nokia N95

N95 has a five megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, installed autofocus, a flashlight and focal lenght of 5,6mm. It has problems with making clear and focused photos, problems with color balance, and the colors of the photos taken is very pale.

It has a great big screen, which has no problems while working in daylight. MP3 player is activated by its specialised keys, and music transferring is done using a standard mini USB port.

The sound from the integrated speakers is very bad, but N95 has a standard 3,5mm port for earphones so you can listen to the music that way.

The quality of the GPS transmitter is very low, not near to the standard chipset SiRF 3. Nokia suggests using the GPS transmitter with the keyboard pulled out, which probably means that the antenna is located under the keyboard which is a bad place for it to be positioned.

The GPS function is, as already said, not so good, so it is probably the best option not to use it in road navigation. It is slow and has a lot of other flaws. All of this makes the N95 a device that can be used more for entertainment, and less for navigation.

Nokia N95N95 has a battery of 950mAh capacity which would be quite enough for a classic smart phone, but in this case it is not enough.

It lasts for a day with high usage of the phone or maybe for two days in moderate usage.

This is an attractive phone with a lot of problems. It gives promisses, but it doesn't fulfil them.

The phone has a lot of functions, but almost every one of them has some flaws.

Although it has a great design, user interface and multimedia, it also has a bad camera, battery, GPS and the price is too high.

Every one of these things can reject you from this phone and force you to start searching for a better phone with lower price, better music player, better camera or even a better GPS transmitter.

ADVANTAGES:
memory, screen, double sliding concept
SHORTCOMINGS: GPS, price, transmission, battery
