This is a slim, well designed clamshell mobile phone, with great specifications. This phone has the dimensions of 97 x 50 x 14 mm and it weights 107g.

VX8700 is very slim, and nice to hold.The phone has a very good external design. The box is made out of silver metal which makes the phone look very solid, and an excellent TFT screen, and a 2 megapixel camera above it, make it look even better.

On the left side of the phone, there are keys for volume control, voice command and a slot for charging and earphones. On the right side there is a key for activating the camera.

Once it's opened, the phone reveals a metal keyboard, and an excellent screen. The keyboard is very spacious, and it is flat. It has all the standard keys, a directional four-way pad with an OK key in the middle, and keys arround the pad.

Screen is excellent. It is a TFT screen with the resolution of 240x320 pixels, and it shows 262 thousand colors. The pictures, wallpapers or themes on this phone look flawless, whether they are observed in daylight or in night time.

The phone has a 2 megapixel camera. It is equipped with zoom, self-timer, image editor, but it doesn't have autofocus or a flash. Regardless of that, it makes sharp and clear, high quality photographs. The camera has also the ability of recording video clips up to 30 seconds with a 320x240 pixel resolution.

VX8700 can also be used for music reproduction, it supports WMA and MP3 formats. It has a loud speaker, and the phone comes with a stereo headset.

The VX8700 model comes with a standard set of applications like alarm, calendar, world clock, notepad, speed dialing,  and calculator.

The phone book has the capacity of 1000 contacts, and to each contact it is possible to add five phone numbers, two e-mail addresses, pictures, and ringtones. It also has voice dialing, voice command, voice recording, e-mail client, and a Mobile Web 2.0 for surfing.

Phone has 28 MB of internal memory, which can be expanded by microSD memory cards. The slot for the memory card is located on an unusual and impractical place - under the battery. The phone has to be turned off, and battery removed just for inserting the memory card. It would be much better if the slot for the card is located somewhere on the side of the phone.

VX8700 has a Li-lon battery of 800 mAh of capacity that lasts for about three hours of talk time and 10 days in standby.
