Samsung Upstage M620 review

The inovation from the Samsung is their new Upstage M620 model. The device is very thin and is made in dual concept - a phone on one side, and a multimedia device on the other. The phone has the dimensions of 103x44x9.4 mm and it weights 73 grams.

Samsung  Upstage M620 The phone side of M620 has a small TFT screen with 176x65 pixel resolution under which is located a flat keyboard with standard keys, a central key with the OK button in the middle, camera key, back key and talk and end keys arround it.

On the rear sides it contains a flip button for changing the mode of the phone, a slide key for locking the keyboard, microSD card slot, volume control, reset key and a charger slot that is also used for connecting the headset.

The other, back side of the phone, has a large TFT screen with the resolution of 176x220 pixels.

Underneath it, there is a touch sensitive keyboard with menu, back, next, previous and end keys, and a large play/pause button in the middle.

The device has a number of applications like alarm, calendar, countdown, notepad, world clock, calculator, scheduler, voice commands.

Some of the audio applications are: speakerphone, three-way calling, voice activated dialing and voice memo recording. The phonebook has the capacity of only 500 contacts.

You can add five phone numbers, e-mail, web addresses, notes, nickname, picture or a polyphonic ring tone to each contact.

M620 has USB and a Bluetooth 2.0 for connecting, that supports HSP, HFP 1.5, DUN, FTP, OPP, A2DP, AVRC, BPP profiles, and a WAP 2.0 web browser.

The phone comes with five demo games: Midnight Bowling, Nightclub Empire, Pac-Man, Tetris and Poker.

Full versions and additional games can be downloaded from the Internet.The music player is quite good, it has options like shuffle, repeat, playlists and it can run in the background, but it doesn't have an equaliser. Audio quality is OK, but it could be better.

The camera on this phone is a 1.3 megapixel that can take pictures in four resolutions. It is quite good.

It comes with a 2 times zoom, quality settings, brightness and white balance controls, night mode, self timer, color effects, fun frames, options for shutter sounds and it also supports PictBridge. It can also record videos.

The phone has 70 MB of internal memory, and it can be expanded with a microSD memory cards up to 2 GB of capacity. It comes with a 64 MB of capacity memory card.

M620 comes with two batteries. One battery is integrated (capacity of 2.5 hours of talk time, 6 hours of music playback), and the other comes in the phone's package(6 hours of talk time, 16 hours of music playback).
